Our plays opens on the deck of a ship
which is struggling against a sudden and violent storm. All seems lost
as the Mariners give up and take to their prayers. The ship seems to
be dashed against the rocks of an enchanted island. Lord over the
island is Prospero, the deposed Duke of Milan. He was abandoned at sea
with his three year old daughter twelve years ago and is now a
powerful magician. It was this same King of Naples and his henchmen
who set him adrift years ago. What will Prospero and his attendant
spirits do with the power that he now holds over his enemies? And what
will become of Prospero, his daughter and the other inhabitants of the
island?
